Recognised as one of the world's most renowned choreographers, John Neumeier has been chief choreographer and artistic director of the Hamburg Ballet since 1973. With a career spanning more than 45 years, he has choreographed and produced 160 ballets. As one of the leading experts on Vaslav Nijinsky worldwide, Neumeier is also a keen collector of Nijinsky's art work, from sculptures to drawings to photographs. He has produced several ballets about Nijinsky, including Vaslav (1979), full- length Nijinsky (2000) and Le Pavillon d'Armide (2009).
